Just got back from cosmeston medieval village, litlary an hour ago. I arrived on the Friday, about 6ish and helped put the tents up, but i managed to drink all my rum and sake on the first night T_T... wasnt impressed by that, those two bottles were supposed toi last me the weekend! . Had a cracking time though, the people were amazing to me down there as usual and its always good to see some old faces. The thing i like the most about medieval re-enactment, is that it gets me away from this bloody machine and outside in a way that i dont miss the digital world whatsoever, and i get a chance to basically live my heratige in the 13th century of Wales. I tell you what, i prefer some of the stuff back then.
i managed to get on the battlefield this time though, i was trained with a spear and i gotta say, for a weapon so simple fighting with one isnt. I managed well enough though, and the comedy elements in the event were amazing ^.^, especially when our Saracen friend's character was called surrender. I have to recomend this sort of activity for almost anyone really, even if your not into the fighting part there is so much that you can do, its incredible.

I also managed to get my Gamberson as well, so at least ill come back with less bruises, though the mail i was wearing that day was bloody heavy! but it was much lighter than what i was making, and i havnt finished yet :S.... ive stopped trying to make a coat out of it, so instead ive made some gauntlets, and im gonna make some sheets for john, our rather mad archer for demonstration in what an arrow of the correct type can do to chain mail, that and the links are so big he wants to see if he can crack it. Ive come up with another plan however, im probably gonna get smaller rings and make some chain linked arms, and a skirt and attack them to the gamberson with leather and wear a coat of plates im planning on making for my chest. the stuffs lighter than chain and does the job of not getting me hurt.

right, art update: the redoing of Gau's look is going well actually! think ive nailed the fur texture, so now im looking into fabric when i egt around to that bit, i have to say, i love Painter X with a graphics tablet!
